Teach Children to Save
A couple of weeks ago I visited a first grade classroom to teach the students how to save money for things they want (a lesson that someone should teach me). It was a very interesting experience. I arrived with coloring books and piggy banks and a lengthy lesson plan. The lesson plan included an exercise about saving $20 over 10 weeks. So I asked the class to tell me something they wanted to save their money for. I was looking for a goal around $20 but instead heard goals like Wiis and XBoxes. I was shocked that noone had a $20 goal. Most of them said their parents would buy it for them. It made me appreciate Tyler's newest obsession with $5 Speed Racers.
